Trauma Doesn't Just Happen to Individuals. It Happens to Couples

Maybe it's betrayal. Maybe it's years of unresolved conflict. Maybe it's trauma one of you brought into the relationship.

Whatever brought you here — you've probably already tried to work through it. And you're still exhausted, still stuck, still wondering if this is just how it is now:

The fights are getting worse
The silence is getting louder
You're both exhausted
You've tried talking it out
You've tried giving it time

It doesn't have to be. Couples trauma isn't a communication problem. It's a nervous system problem — and it responds to a different kind of care.

Why Couples Therapy and Trauma Therapy Have to Work Together

Most couples therapy focuses on communication. And communication matters — but when trauma is underneath the conflict, it's not enough on its own.

Dr. Cammy brings two credentials that rarely exist in the same practice:

Certified Gottman Therapist — a rigorous certification focused on trust repair, conflict, and intimacy
EMDR Certified Clinician — the gold standard for trauma processing
Why I Specialize in Couples Trauma

I didn't start here. I began as a trauma therapist—trained in EMDR, working with individuals whose bodies were still holding what their minds couldn't process. But I kept seeing the same thing: my clients were healing individually, and their relationships were still suffering.

Because trauma doesn't just live inside one person. It lives between partners too. The affair that shattered everything. The loss of a child that built a wall between them. The chronic illness that turned partners into caretakers. The accident that left them both changed.

So I trained in the Gottman Method—one of the most research-backed approaches to couples—and built a practice that treats both at once.

Three Phases. A Clear Roadmap. A Defined Path Forward.

No guesswork. No indefinite processing. Every session has a clear purpose — and you'll know what you're working toward before you leave.

01

Identify the Pattern

We assess your relationship using Gottman's research tools. You see exactly what's happening—and why

02

Replace the Pattern

We practice new skills in session—so they're automatic before the next real fight. Not theory. Practice.

03

Rebuild the Bond

Once the conflict cycle breaks, we rebuild what got buried under years of fighting: friendship, trust, intimacy.
